Programs: Work without Reason is Waste

Waste, it's all around us.  Think of sitting in traffic, it is unproductive time; the person who runs their Air conditioning all summer, even when the temperature drops below 70 degrees outside; the person who mows their lawn every other day, polluting the air to shave away a half inch of grass.   Or, doing an extra set of squats when you can back squat your total.

Don't let you're work out be a wasted effort.

A good program is the foundation of success.  I cannot stress how important it is to have a well written program and to, actually, follow it.  Even following a mediocre program is probably better than guessing your way through every trip to the gym.

When I first started lifting, you practically had to find out where a good coach lived or hung out at to chase them for a work out.  Right now, there are so many resources where an athlete can contact a coach and simply buy a program online, or going to a seminar.  It's pretty shocking to see how many athletes underestimate the importance of having a good coach.

Finally, once you get a program, believe in it. We can learn a lot from watching Karate Kid movies, when you find a good coach, don't question them.  As an athlete, it is your job to do and learn. Save the inquisitiveness for after work out, after you have been through a full training cycle.

Training with out a purpose or direction is just a waste of your time.
